Holy Week 2008 Schedule

View the schedule of liturgies for Holy Week, from Palm Sunday of our Lord's Passion through Easter Sunday Masses of the Lord's Resurrection.

Palm Sunday:

Palm Sunday of our Lord's Passion:

8:30 AM Sunday Mass - Gather in the Church (no procession)
10:30 AM Sunday Mass - Gather in the Community Center Cafeteria

The Easter Triduum:

During the Paschal Triduum, the dying and rising of Christ is recalled and made present. These days are the center of our identity as Christians, members of the Body of Christ, the Church.

During these three days, we remember and ritually commemorate the Passion, death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ - the Paschal Mystery. This is an important point to consider... This is one three-day liturgy, one continuous celebration. If we fail to see the interconnectedness of these three movements, we fail to grasp the whole of the Paschal Triduum. We are not reenacting three events from the life of Jesus during his last days on earth. The Paschal Triduum is not a three-day passion play. Jesus Christ died, "once and for all" (Romans 6:10). We do not pretend that these events have not already happened. Nor do we celebrate any of the three major liturgies outside its connection to the full scope of the Paschal Mystery. For example, we do not just commemorate the institution of the Eucharist on Holy Thursday or just the crucifixion on Good Friday. While there certainly is sorrow at the death of the Lord, we do not pretend that we do not know the end of the story. What we commemorate during this one continuous liturgy is the cross of Jesus Christ and the life that comes from it through death.
